American Girl Molly
American Girl is really great at teaching us history and what it was like for the children during those times. It was no different with American Girl doll, Molly. Molly McIntire is the AG character that is growing up during the time of World War II in 1944. Her Father is sorely missed, as he is overseas in another country taking care of some of the wounded soldiers from the battles. There are difficult changes that Molly has to go through and it is not always an easy time. She sees things during that time like rationing things on certain days and having to eat very skimpy meals for supper. Even though it's tough for Molly not to see her father on Christmas, she begins to realize how vital this war is to win and everyone has to make sacrifices inorder to be victorious. She learns lessons like working together to accomplish a greater cause.Molly was one of the original American Dolls releases in 1986 along with Samantha and Kirsten. There is a movie that highlights the life of Molly that has been made by Disney in 2006, called "Molly- An American Girl Victory."
Molly McIntire, 1944
Molly
Mcintire was born in Jefferson, Illionois with her three siblings and
parents. Molly's story is primarily set during World War II.
Throughout Molly's stories you are really able to notice that
she is always willing to try and make the best of any situation that
crosses hers or her loved ones paths. She also tends to come off as
if she tends to primarily find it her responsibility to keep her
family and friends stay happy during this rough time.
Molly's
father is stationed in England and primarily works with healing and
helping wounded soldiers coming out or temporarily being put out of
commission during the war. This being a rather obviously disturbing
and potentially traumatizing job, he too of course suffers everyday.
In addition to that, he and his family also face the constant
possibility of him coming home with PSD or other mental disorders
that could cause him self harm or harm to his loved ones.
Therefore,
Molly of course lives with her mother and loved ones.
Through
the American Girl stories Molly has two equally satisfying best
friends, but later on discovers a third new best friend, her name is
Emily Bennett. Emily becomes a great asses to her in a sense, and of
course helps keep her spirit up rather high at almost all times.
Molly's basic six mini book accessories are based on the themes
of family adaption to a lack of a father during the war, teamwork,
and understanding how to correctly prioritize and maintain your
problems. These of course in turn helping almost anyone reading them
then or now really at least get a better idea of what its like to be
someone who is suffering, if not offer them much more insight and
possible change than that.
An interesting fact is that Molly
was actually only one of the three dolls ever offered by Pleasant
Company. This too in itself says a lot as they tended to be known for
their mild pickyness at times back then. Molly has braided brown
hair, beautiful gray eyes, and is always wearing round glasses.
Specifically her eyeglasses are something to remember and very
identifiable to her.
Typically you would have to buy such an
accessory as glasses separate, but Molly comes with her very own
pair! How perfect and convenient is that ? Don't hold out, start
