American Girl Nellie Doll
The American Girl Nellie O'Malley is a savvy, brilliant and willful little girl in New York. She is growing up in the 1906 time period and she has a very specific job that was handed down to her from her mother who was on her death bed when she gave this job to Nellie. The job was to keep her family together no matter what. Nellie lives with her 2 younger sister, after having been orphaned and left alone by their Uncle. Thankfully, Samantha's family had compassion on Nellie and her sisters and took them in to live with them. Samantha's family loves the Omalley sisters and they even wish to adopt the 3.
In June of 2004, the Nellie doll was added to the American Girl collection. Nellie was added to the collection a little late in the series but is supposed to be a part of Samantha's doll collection which came out in the very beginning in 1986. In a recent American Girl movie in 2004, Nellie made an appearance.

Nellie O'Malley, 1904
Nellie was
born right into Irish immigrants and really worked primarily for
Samantha's neighbors. Through her experiences her work tended to have
it's hard moments, but working for them actually was a huge enabler
for the creation of the friendship between Nellie and Samantha.
Nellie And Samantha's friendship stayed strong for a very long
time, and barely ever expired. Through hardship and continuous trials
they never gave way to life challenges, especially the common ones
back in those days. The two although not possessing a lot in common,
did see eye to eye on many things. With the respect Samantha had, and
hard working attitude Nellie had, they became quite the strong
friends.
The truth is, Samantha admired Nellie, and not just
for her personalities. The reality of how big Nellie's work ethic was
truly impressed and amazed Samantha.
Within soon time Nellie
teaches Samantha all about being a hard working immigrant, and the
hard times the have to undergo each day. Through thoroughly
explanation and even some offered experiences Samantha begins to
understand more what it's like for Nellie.
In reality
Samantha apprehended a lot and was truly able to understand overall
what it must be like for Nellie, but more importantly sympathized
with her.
In 2004, the two were officially presented as "good
friends" by American Girl.
Through life Nellie undergoes
many rough challenges, but always managed to keep her ever so
challenging promises to her family as well, while remaining loyal to
them. Through hardship Nellie really was still able to teach Samantha
tons about what it's like living her life, and a high quality vice
versa.
On October 6, 2008 the two of these best friends were
moved to the archives. As time went on they became more and more
recognized, and naturally the entry to archives actually gave them
more positive re-exposure if anything. Typically when American Girl
dolls are entered into Archive it's because their very high quality,
and or show large potential of current or future high demand.
The
Nellie doll since Mid-December 2008 has been completely sold out
through American Girl. As this has saddened many, many letters and
random responses have been sent into American Girl since with
multiple types of requests.
However, speculation of
reproduction and or distribution is definitely in consideration and
continual speculation. No matter what, there's no harm in all of us
waiting for possibly more of Nellie !
